This book is about Kit Kittredredge. Kit is a girl growing up during the Depression. Recently Kit’s Aunt Millie has arrived at Kit’s house to stay for a while. Aunt Millie is very thrifty and fun. Some of her ideas include getting chickens and selling their eggs, making bloomers out of chicken feed sacks and much more. Kit has a lot of fun with Aunt Millie and Kit admires her aunt because of the way she can take things and turn them into something useful. Everything is fine until Aunt Millie comes to school one day and tells the students in Kit’s class about Kit’s birthday party Aunt Millie planned for Kit. then everything changes. Kit is back in Kit’s Surprise which is a story about Kit’s Christmas. Kit,Ruthie,and their mothers go shopping every Christmas. They also have lunch together at a cafe. This year it’s difficult for Kit and her mother to go shopping and pay for lunch because they don’t have enough money. Ever since Kit’s dad lost his job the Kittredges have had to be very thrifty. Ruthie is very kind and generous, so one day, she presents Kit with tickets to a ballet, an invitation to go to lunch at a fancy cafe, and she gives Kit her old Christmas dress. Kit’s pride is hurt then. It makes her feel like a beggar to wear Ruthie’s dress. She tells Ruthie that it makes her feel that way and they have a big fight. To make matters worse, Kit has to go to grumpy Uncle Hendrick’s house to give him his medicine, walk his dog Inky, and get him things every day. Will Kit be friends with Ruthie again? The LEPrecon team has just battled the B,wa Kell and had a tough time beating them. They think Artemis Fowl is the human supplying the batteries so they meet with him. It is up to Artemis Fowl and the fairies to save the day!

This book is about a girl named Kit who lived during the Depression. Everything that is happening with other people, like how everyone’s losing their jobs, seems like a dream to Kit and her friend Ruthie. Their fathers still have their jobs. Kit soon realizes that anything is possible. Wonderful!

Samantha lives with her aunt and uncle because her mother and father died in a boat wreck. Lily decides to look around the old house known as the Winston place. There she finds a place to use as their new clubhouse, but their troubles aren’t over yet!
